Succeed was founded by Karine Berthou in 2010 after a personal journey to discover how to improve the support available for individuals with eating disorders.
Founded in 2010
One of Karine’s major motivations in setting-up Succeed came after travelling the world and meeting academics and clinicians working in the field of eating disorders. She discovered that although there is a lot of clinical research being undertaken around the issue, very little is being disseminated to those suffering from them. In other words the latest academic research is not being translated into effective and accessible tools of intervention.
Partners in research
The Succeed Foundation was set up to work in partnership with researchers to promote further research and to increase the number of targeted evidence-based solutions being developed and widely disseminated.
A team effort
It has taken a real team effort to get here today and so much hard work has been put in to accomplish this launch of The Succeed Foundation and its programmes.
Succeed aims are;
To make support accessible to everyone affected by eating disorders in the UK today – be they individuals with an eating disorder, carers, clinicians or the wider public.
To facilitate diagnosis at the earliest possible stage by promoting existing and new programmes, fresh research and new technologies to reduce the average recovery time of someone suffering from an eating disorder.

Skills for Carers
Our DVD for carers, 'How to Care for Someone with an Eating Disorder', uses the New Maudsley Approach to help carers develop skills and techniques to support their loved ones. Please read more here.
Succeed Body Image Programme (SBIP)
Our Succeed Body Image Programme (SBIP) is a two day workshop for women attending British Universities that aims to promote healthy body image, challenge the thin ideal of female beauty, and prevent the onset of eating disorders. Please read more here.
