Individuals with eating disorders

Find out how you can be involved

How can we make things better?

We want to know what has or has not worked for you in your recovery – please tell us about the places, professionals, centres or support groups in and around your area. What have been your experiences? Please feel free to be honest, remember we are all individuals and what works for one person may not work for another. But by sharing your experiences no matter where or how far down the line you are on your recovery journey we aim to create a road map that unites everyone’s experiences.

Whether it’s a dietician, counsellor, doctor, some other professional, group or program that you may have challenges with, remember that your recovery comes first.

We are all human

If you’ve given someone a chance and that person isn’t helping you, it’s okay to explore other options. Professionals have issues and they make mistakes. They are human. But that doesn’t mean that a negative experience with one of them should be allowed to jeopardize your recovery.

Recovery is possible

Eating disorder recovery is very hard work. You owe it to yourself to tap into the best resources available to you. If something isn’t working in your best interest, it’s time to make a change. Recovering from your eating disorder is one of the most difficult things you will ever do. Give yourself credit for the courage to try. Recovery can take years and how recovery is defined can be difficult but remember it is POSSIBLE.

There is no magic cure

Unfortunately there is no magic cure and there are so many different recovery approaches and treatments. Everyone is different and we believe that there is no right or wrong answer. Remember a negative experience doesn’t have to take the hope of recovery away from you.
